For my Personal Project I made a game of my own called traversal. The game is a puzzle platformer that was entirely developed by myself using a game development tool called DREAMS. The game is fully playable and contains several fun and engaging puzzles and platforming challenges.
The game must contain completely original assets and if not it must be modified radically to distinguish from other peoples assets.
I will be modeling my own objects and only use other people assets if I am given permission from a person or store front to use them and if I do I must change them to be my own such as if I purchase a default character model I have to change it substantially such as giving it face detail a different color palette and an textured outfit.
It must be fully playable without any glitches or bugs. Example the textures shouldn't change color and the player shouldn't get stuck in a corner and not be able to proceed.
There must a focus on one gameplay mechanic such as jumping or puzzle solving. If its focuses on a mechanic such as puzzle solving try and incorporate some ideas like objects that switch around. the puzzle orientation or if it is a platformer incorporate enemies or roadblocks that stop the player
It must contain some sort of story such as a flavor text in game or perhaps an animated cutscene or something like that to describe the in game events.
Make a manual for the game describing the gameplay and story and the mechanics such as what button does what and how objects interact with the environment.
It must contain a brief synopsis of the story and It has to include the controls and other integral information for how to play it.
font size must be fully legible and should be size 14 new roman font
For my personal project I decided to make a platforming game called Traversal. To make it I used a game making tool called dreams. Below is a link to my game. If you want to play it you can search it on the dreams app on the playstation 4
My global value is scientific and technical innovation. I chose this because I wanted to explore the idea of how technology has streamlined the process of game development. For my main point of research I watched and read several interviews from game developers on how they made their game and I made a 7 step plan on how to make my game based on their philosophy. During my process I had to change some of my ideas as they were too difficult to implement in such a time span so there was some cut content. From this project I learned that It is a good idea to plan ahead while giving plenty of breathing room for yourself otherwise you might rush or not finish in time.
Ever since I was a small child I can just remember picking up a controller and just spending what felt like hours playing games. My motivation stems from the fact I have always wanted to make a game but for one reason or the other just did not have any time to work on it or the tools to do so. When I was first told of the personal project I knew pretty much immediately that I wanted to make a video game of my own. The other reasons I wanted to learn how to make a game was so I could learn level design and 3d modeling. In the future I would possibly like to make video games of my own or become a writer. This skills that I have learned help me to bring my creative vision into a digital medium and allow me to design a game.
As soon as I finished my research I began to make my game. The first thing I did was to design my character. This was the most difficult part of the process because he a lot of tiny details that I had to model precisely. I then began make a basic layout of the game without any detail. I saved the detail for the end of the day so I could finish the level design as soon as possible to allow for a complete experience. I had several phases where I would have people play my game and give me feedback as to how I could do it better. The were several Ideas I wanted to implement but could not due to time constraints or not have the technical expertise. Originally I wanted to have gravity mechanics such as the ones present in Mario Galaxy but I could not do this in a manageabale time frame.

Photo of the game in an early build. As you can see this is before I had transposed my character model into the final game.
